The 76ers said the decision to close Embiid along the 2024-25 campaign was made once he was determined that he was “medically not playing.”
“The Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid consulted top specialists about ongoing issues on his left knee. After further examination, he decided that he was medically unable to play and miss the residue during the focus on treatment and rehabilitation,” the team said in a statement.

“We work with medical experts to determine the exact treatment plan and update the media when we have more information. The team and specialists will continue to work with Joel to ensure the best path for his long-term health and performance.”

“I think the straight answer is that when you have something inconsistent, at some point, you have to do something about it,” Embiid said. “We don’t know what it is. We are looking for every choice.”
He only played 39 games last season due to a torn meniscus on his left knee. Embiid won a gold medal with the US Olympic team Last year at the Paris Games.
He has only played 58 regular-season games and seven play-in contests and playoff games since he earned awards in the MVP.

Embiid signed a $ 193 million contract extension early in the season and has been about $ 266 million in career revenues.
Philadelphia enters this season as one of the favorites to fight for an NBA title, but the team is in the middle of a nine -game defeated. The Sixers entered Friday in 12th place in the Eastern Conference’s stand.
